Erie High brothers, McLane teams highlight county results for Dirty Dawg Invitational

Rory and Rocco Grande received awards comparable to their surname after Saturday’s Dirty Dawg Invitational.

The Erie High brothers received the gold and bronze medals given out for the varsity boys race held on Harbor Creek’s campus.

Rory, a sophomore, completed the course in 16 minutes, 56.1 seconds. Rocco, a junior, was third at 17:18.3.

“We’re rivals,” Rory Grande said, “but at the end of the day, we’re teammates. We push each other every practice. We make each other better.”

The Grandes bracketed Union City silver medalist Josh Mitcham. The freshman crossed the finish line in 17:02.7.

The Grandes were individuals in a race that General McLane won as a team.

The Lancers, led by Ryan Anderson, compiled 65 points. The Meadville Bulldogs were second with 96 and Harbor Creek third at 101.

Anderson (17:51.0), Brendan O’Connor (17:56.3) and Aidan Price (17:57.7) placed ninth through 11th for McLane, which swept Saturday’s varsity team titles.

Earlier, the Lancer girls were the lone program done with double-digit points (72).
