BROCTON, N.Y. (WIVB) — This week’s hike is at the new Floating Fen Preserve in Chautauqua County, outside Fredonia. This is the first of our guest episodes, where someone joins Scott to talk about that specific hike.
At the Floating Fen, it’s Josh Balisteri, the stewardship director for the Western New York Land Conservancy, which owns the preserve. Josh explains what a “fen” is, why it’s unique, why it’s considered to be “floating,” and also why the Land Conservancy’s work is so important for Western New York’s wildlife.
