Be prepared for dense fog in Western NY, Finger Lakes until Monday morning

A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 5:52 a.m. for dense fog until 9 a.m. for Niagara, Orleans, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.

“Local surface observations and webcams show areas of fog across far western NY in vicinity of Lake Erie this morning. Some of this fog may be locally dense, with visibilities down to a half mile or less at times. Fog is expected to dissipate by 9 a.m. this morning. If driving this morning, allow extra time to reach your destination and be prepared for rapid changes to visibility,” explains the weather service.
