COBURG, Ore. — A week after voters shot down two operational levies that would have provided funding for Lane Fire Authority and South Lane County Fire and Rescue, the Coburg Fire Chief is warning the public about future impacts to service all over the region.
“If they keep — if we keep losing staffing and resources, our only message is going to be to be ready, have your bag packed and listen to evacuation notices because you’re going to have to move. Fire’s coming through,” Chief Chad Minter said.
Since SLCFR and LFA are going to have to cut back on their operations, including response times and how many calls they can respond to, Minter said other districts will have to help fill in the gap, but will run into their own struggles when it comes to staying on top of calls…
