Volunteer 2 weekends, get golden ticket to Central Cascades Wilderness pass next year

Volunteer trailhead hosts that put in 40 hours of work this summer in Willamette National Forest can get quite a haul: a free Northwest Forest Pass and a Central Cascades Wilderness Volunteer Pass for 2027.

Willamette National Forest is looking for volunteers to spend two weekends at popular wilderness trailheads east of Salem and Eugene, educating people about Leave No Trace ethics, wilderness regulations, required permits and site-specific considerations.

A part of the job is making sure people have the required permit for the limited entry system in the summer season for the Mount Jefferson, Three Sisters and Mount Washington wilderness areas…
