Tour 2 extraordinary Oregon architectural treasures people from around the world come to see

Oregon not only has respected innovating architects, it also attracts them. Frank Lloyd Wright, one of America’s most celebrated architects, designed the Gordon House, now in Silverton, and Finnish architect Alvar Aalto designed the Mount Angel Abbey Library, seven miles north in Saint Benedict.

On Aug. 1, the preservation nonprofit Restore Oregon will lead 100 people on private tours of the significant landmarks. Tickets to the Nature and Light in Architecture tour are $100 and are available at restoreoregon.org.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Each site will accommodate 50 people at a time for tours and presentations during a morning and afternoon session. A break from noon to 1:30 p.m. will allow participants to enjoy lunch or visit surrounding areas…
