EUGENE, Ore. – Police stopped a Nissan at the onramp to eastbound Beltline Highway from River Road early on Sunday, and the driver sped off as the officer walked toward the car, according to the Eugene Police Department.
EPD officials said the traffic stop occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. on July 19. The driver, 31-year-old Gale Rose Marie StaytonWilliams, drove east on Beltline and reached speeds over 100 miles per hour, according to police. She exited onto Coburg Road, ran a red light and began driving into oncoming traffic. She nearly hit another driver head-on before heading east on Harlow Road. The officer shared the information with Springfield Police and Oregon State Police.
