The University of Oregon announced Tuesday, Aug. 18 it has named the residence hall on the north side of Hayward Field “Cedar Hall”. The residence hall was formally referred to as New Residence Hall after it was left without a name following its opening in 2023.
The apartment-style housing facility completed at the same time as Cedar Hall was named “Yasui Hall” in June 2024 in honor of the Japanese-American UO alumnus family.
The university also announced it has named the residence hall currently under construction “Maple Hall”. The residence hall, an estimated $160 million, seven story building with 870 beds, is part of phase one of the Next Generation Housing Development plan.
