BROWNSVILLE, Ore. – A man is dead after being hit by a semi truck while riding his bike in the slow lane on Interstate 5 early in the morning on September 9. Oregon State Police officials said troopers responded to a reported semi truck versus bicycle crash that occurred on Interstate 5 at about 1:18 a.m. on September 9. Troopers said they arrived to find Ryan Lee Bird, 40, of Eugene had been riding a bicycle northbound in the slow lane of Interstate 5 when a northbound semi truck struck him from behind. OSP troopers said the truck was unable to see Bird on his bicycle on the road.
