Joel Klatt Reveals Prediction for No. 20 Illinois vs. No. 1 Oregon

Dan Lanning and the No. 1 ranked Oregon Ducks are riding high at the moment, enjoying their first 7-0 start to the season since 2013, and their first No. 1 ranking since 2012.

After a huge win over the Ohio State Buckeyes two weeks ago, and a dominant showing in a tough spot against the Purdue Boilermakers, there seems to be very few things that this Duck team can handle as the season continues.

However, Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt thinks that they might be running into some trouble this weekend with a top-25 matchup against the No. 20 Illinois Fighting Illini.

“This is not a trap game, this is not a letdown game, it’s just a tough game,” Klatt said. “Because Illinois is underrated at No. 20. This Illinois team is not flashy, which is why I think they do not get the credit that they deserve. But they are built in the image of their head coach, Bret Bielema. They are tough, they are physical, and they are sound.”

Oregon coach Dan Lanning leads a defensive huddle against Idaho. After one game it looks like the Duck defense may have to cover for the offense in 2024, at least early.
