Burns Man Sentenced for Stealing Mail While Working for Postal Service

EUGENE, Ore. — A Burns, Oregon man has been sentenced to federal prison after admitting to repeatedly stealing mail while employed by the United States Postal Service in eastern Oregon.

Patrick Wright, 44, received a sentence of 45 days in federal prison followed by two years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay more than $2,000 in restitution.

According to court documents, Wright committed the thefts between January and June 2024 while working at the Hines Post Office. During that time, he opened mail and took items from inside, including cash and gift cards…
