Eugene Police to Oversee Safety During Federal Building Fence Installation Project

EUGENE, Ore. — The U.S. General Services Administration is installing temporary security fencing around the Eugene Federal Building, according to the Eugene Police Department (EPD).

The building is located on federal property, where the federal government is exempt from state and local regulations governing its land use, officials said.

Last week, the City of Eugene received a Right-of-Way Use Permit application from a contractor working for the GSA for temporary lane closures on Pearl Street and Seventh Avenue during the installation. The city reviewed the application, confirmed all requirements were met and issued the permit.
