Gibson County officials probe failed weather sirens, assess widespread storm damage

PRINCETON, Ind. (WEVV) — Local officials are launching widespread daytime damage assessments and investigating malfunctioning severe weather sirens after a powerful storm swept through Gibson County on Sunday night.

Emergency crews are focusing recovery efforts on a heavily impacted swath south of Owensville from Interstate 65 heading east, as well as several locations on the county’s east side.

Gibson County Sheriff Bruce Vanoven confirmed in a live broadcast late Sunday that emergency dispatchers received reports of failed weather sirens in Owensville and just east of Princeton near the Marathon gas station.
