EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Between 11 and 30 cases of Cyclospora have been reported statewide in Indiana, and health officials say, the outbreak is larger than what’s typical.
No cases have been confirmed in Vanderburgh County, but local doctors are urging residents to know the warning signs.
Cyclospora is a foodborne parasite linked to fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly pre-packaged salads and raw produce. The illness, known clinically as Cyclosporiasis, causes watery, explosive diarrhea that can last one to two weeks.
