HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to begin a roadway reconfiguration project on 2nd Street (KY 351) in Henderson. Officials say this project is designed to improve pedestrian safety, create a more predictable traffic pattern for drivers and provide dedicated space for bicyclists.
The KYTC says work is scheduled to begin on August 6, weather permitting, along 2nd Street between Green Street and Carlisle Street.

Officials explain the corridor includes a school and serves neighborhoods, businesses and other destinations that generate regular pedestrian traffic. The project is intended to make it easier and safer for people walking to cross the roadway while continuing to accommodate drivers traveling through the area.
According to the KYTC, the existing four-lane roadway will be restriped into one 11-foot travel lane in each direction with a dedicated center two-way left-turn lane. A new four-foot bicycle lane will be added in each direction while maintaining about eight feet of on-street parking along most of the corridor…
