The Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center (SICTC) is kicking off the 2026-27 school year with a brand-new cosmetology classroom called The Style Lab for high school students interested in turning their passion for hair and beauty into a career. And just like every other SICTC program, the Style Lab was designed to make students feel like they’re already stepping into the professional world.
Style Lab Offers Professional Space for Hands-On Learning
The new classroom features 40 professional workstations, giving students plenty of room to learn, practice, and develop the hands-on skills they’ll need for careers in cosmetology and barbering. Instead of simply learning about the industry in a traditional classroom setting, students will have a space where they can actually get to work and build their skills.

And there’s already plenty of interest in the program. The first class in The Style Lab is completely full, and students are scheduled to begin using the new space next week.
Preparing Students for Careers in Beauty
The Style Lab gives students the opportunity to learn in an environment that looks and feels much more like the kind of professional setting they could eventually work in. For students who are interested in working in the beauty industry, having this kind of access means there will be plenty of opportunities to practice, experiment and find their own style.
