Three arrested on meth trafficking charges at Owensboro motel

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office announced three meth trafficking arrests as part of an ongoing effort targeting drug trafficking at Owensboro area motels.

Suspect flees, hits Daviess County deputy with vehicle

According to a release, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit detectives conducted an operation at a motel on west 2nd Street on April 18 after conducting numerous undercover controlled buys of narcotics from a resident of the motel. Benjamin Canary, 37, and Cheryl Smith, 63, and Brandy Seaton, 38, were all arrested on the following listed charges:

Benjamin Canary

  • Trafficking in controlled substance (Methamphetamine)
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Drug paraphernalia

Cheryl Smith

  • Trafficking in controlled substance (Methamphetamine) (Complicity)
  • Possession of controlled substances (Methamphetamine)
  • Drug paraphernalia

Brandy Seaton

  • Trafficking in controlled substance (Methamphetamine)
  • Drug paraphernalia

Authorities say that while speaking to a suspect in the room prior to their arrest, detectives saw drugs and paraphernalia lying on a table and in other areas of the room. During a search of the room, authorities say they located methamphetamine, baggies, pipes, money and digital scales.
