Evansville Rescue Mission officially launches campaign for new women and children’s center

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT)- An Evansville non-profit officially launched its campaign for a new center catering to women and children in need to the public.

Evansville Rescue Mission hosted a banquet tonight at Washington Square Mall to mark the occasion. The Susan H. Snyder Center for Women and Children will be located at 1400 Professional Boulevard and offer 125 beds. Officials say the size and scope of the project will be something the region has never seen and help make a difference in the homeless population.

“Here in Evansville, we have over 200 homeless women and kids and that is an amazing number for a city our size. It is disproportionate really in the state of Indiana. And so we want to come alongside them and help them and in many cases, get them out of that awful spiral they find themselves in which leads them to be homeless and needing assistance,” says Tracy Gorman, the President and CEO of Evansville Rescue Mission.

The nonprofit has already raised over $7 million of its $9 million goal. Construction is already underway and the center is expected to open in March of 2025.
