HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — A Madisonville woman has been arrested on charges of child abuse after authorities say a 3-year-old was treated for fentanyl poisoning.
According to the Madisonville Police Department (MPD), on April 10 around 7:52 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call from Demontasia Thompson involving a medical emergency for a 3-year-old.
Officers say when they got there, the child was found to be lethargic with shallow breathing. This child was transported to the Baptist Health ER and was later intubated and life-flighted to a Children’s Hospital. It was later determined that the child tested positive for fentanyl. At this time, the child remains in critical condition.
