FREE Summer Reading Perks Your Kids Will Actually Love
Today is National Tell A Story Day and you might be reading this and think so? Well, reading and story telling isn’t just a part of your childhood, it carries with you when you get older. I remember telling myself, “I have 50 more pages till I get a free personal pan pizza coupon from Pizza Hut.” I still remember all of the personal pan coupons we had on our bulletin board and whenever mom didn’t feel like cooking it was time to use one.
If you’re looking for a way to keep the kids learning and score some freebies this summer here in Evansville, this is it. I mean who doesn’t love free activities for their kids while they’re also learning at the same time. There are several programs offering rewards just for reading and some of these are pretty great motivation.
Free Books Just for Reading
Let’s start with a classic, my favorite place in the world actually. Barnes & Noble is bringing back its summer reading program where kids can earn a free book just by reading and writing a little about what they read in a reading journal. It’s a simple, easy, and a great way to keep those reading skills sharp, I wish I was apart of something like that when I was a kid.
For the younger kids, the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is always a win. If you’ve got kids ages 1 to 5, they can get free books mailed right to your home which is honestly one of the coolest programs out there.
Read Books, Get Food (Yes, Really)
Now, let’s talk motivation because nothing gets kids excited like food rewards…
