HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- An Evansville couple is in jail this morning, facing charges of neglect.
Caleb and Andrea Butler were booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail late Wednesday evening. According to police records, another individual reported witnessing Caleb hit a seven-month-old child. A child services representative told police that they had also received a school complaint about the alleged incident, which, according to a police affidavit, happened in front of another child. The couple was reportedly living in a camper with 7 children and an additional individual identified as Kimberly Mitchell.

According to a police affidavit, Mitchell admitted to dropping the child during a separate incident, and reportedly did not seek medical attention following the incident. During the investigation, police became aware that Caleb and Andrea fed the child foods such as chicken nuggets, pizza, and tacos, and concern was expressed that the child was not yet developmentally ready to consume such foods.
Police described the inside of the home as having little room, with beds everywhere except in common areas, and said the refrigerator did not have enough space to hold enough food for everyone in the home. Police also described the home as unsanitary, adding that the stove was caked with food debris.
