5-year-old “Baby Ace” dies after being hit by vehicle while riding mini 4-wheeler in Raeford, NC

The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office has identified a person of interest but no arrests have been made

A 5-year-old child known publicly as “Baby Ace” died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his mini 4-wheeler on Grove Walk Road in Raeford, North Carolina, on June 6. The incident occurred around 4:34 p.m. Deputies from the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office responded and found the child in the roadway with serious injuries. He was transported to First Health Hoke, then airlifted to UNC Health. There, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased around 12:15 a.m. on June 7.

The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating the case as a pedestrian-vehicle collision. As of the latest reports, a person of interest has been identified, but no arrests have been made. Sheriff Roderick Virgil acknowledged the emotional toll on the community and offered prayers for the family and first responders.

The Family’s Account

A family member, Ronda Singleton, shared an emotional and detailed post on Facebook that quickly spread across social media. In the post, Singleton described how 5-year-old Baby Ace was “literally just riding his mini 4-wheeler enjoying the day” in the neighborhood when he was struck by a speeding vehicle on Grove Walk Road.

She alleged that the driver ran over the child, then got out of the car and walked his own son home. Singleton claimed his son was also in the vehicle. Meanwhile, she says Baby Ace was “fighting for his life in the road.” Singleton stated the boy lost his fight and was pronounced deceased at 12:15 a.m. on June 7…
