NEWTON GROVE, NC — Three people are dead after a head-on collision on Interstate 40 near Newton Grove early Saturday, including a 14-year-old passenger in one of the vehicles. North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 2:40 a.m. near US-701 and involved a Chevrolet Camaro and a Honda Accord.
Troopers said the Camaro was traveling the wrong way when it struck the Accord head-on. The wreck shut down I-40 eastbound for hours before the roadway reopened around 7:30 a.m.

Investigators said the wrong-way Camaro had two people inside. Both died at the scene.
Authorities identified the driver as 21-year-old Jonathan Toxtle Zacarias and the passenger as Gabriel Toxtle Zacarias, 20. Both were residents of Fayetteville.
