The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC), headquartered at Fayetteville
Technical Community College, is pleased to announce the selection of Thomas “TJ” Gilroy for the position of director of defense technologies. Mr. Gilroy previously served as an NCMBC regional program manager with a focus on innovation, research and development. In his new position, Mr. Gilroy will lead strategic initiatives that strengthen North Carolina’s defense technology ecosystem and expand opportunities for businesses pursuing Department of War research, development, testing, and acquisition opportunities.
Since joining NCMBC in 2022, Mr. Gilroy has played a key role in connecting North Carolina companies with federal research and development organizations and opportunities, helping businesses navigate both traditional and non-traditional defense acquisition pathways. His work has focused on fostering innovation, accelerating technology transition and supporting companies pursuing opportunities with agencies such as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Air Force Research Laboratory, Army research organizations, the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and others…
