Fayetteville veteran launches surprise teacher supply drive to stock classrooms before first bell

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — As families prepare for the new school year, one Fayetteville Army veteran is asking the community to help fill classrooms instead of shopping carts.

Army veteran and loan officer Johnathan Wilke and The Dream Team at Alcova Mortgage have launched “Lending A Hand,” a back-to-school teacher supply drive aimed at surprising teachers at a local elementary school with much-needed classroom supplies before students return.

Wilke said teachers spend hundreds of dollars out of their own pockets each year to prepare their classrooms. He hopes the community can help ease that burden…
