Four-car collision slows Aberdeen traffic

The second major collision on U.S. 1 within the span of an hour occurred at the intersection with Magnolia Drive at about 1:50 p.m. Friday.

Just one hour after a collision caused a vehicle to roll in Southern Pines, first responders were alerted to a four-car pileup less than a mile down the road in Aberdeen.

Authorities on scene told Sandhills Sentinel that four vehicles were approaching the traffic light when the driver of a Dodge Challenger was unable to stop in time and rear-ended a Hyundai Tucson, setting off a chain reaction.
