Weeks before college, Pender graduate suffers life-changing wreck

Aniya Moore was supposed to move into her dorm at Fayetteville State University this month. She was excited about being a Bronco, and she looked forward to beginning her classes there this fall.

But the Watha resident — who graduated from Pender High School in June after battling a cancerous brain tumor during her high school years — is now recovering from a wreck.

On July 24, Moore was driving along Pine Woods Road near her home when she ran off the road, struck a ditch and hit a tree. She said she has no recollection of the accident or what occurred to make her run off the road…
