Report finds that Fayetteville VA delayed vet’s cancer diagnosis

A report released by the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General this month found that it took nearly two years for a Fayetteville VA patient to receive a lung cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The April 8 report states that the Office of Inspector General received a complaint in May 2024 alleging that the VA Fayetteville Coastal Healthcare System did not provide the patient with a timely diagnosis between December 2023 and May 2024.

The office investigation additionally found issues with scheduling timely medical appointments for the patient from the onset of their symptoms in March 2022 until their final diagnosis in June 2024…
