BENSON — A bridge closure and several detours are planned in Benson as work continues on the widening of Interstate 95 and improvements to Exit 79, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
The southbound Interstate 95 off-ramp at Exit 79 closed last week so crews can realign the ramp at East Main Street/N.C. 50. Southbound motorists are being directed to use Exit 77 during the closure. The rebuilt ramp is expected to reopen May 21.
The N.C. 50 bridge over Interstate 95 is scheduled to close May 28 and remain closed for approximately 45 days. During the closure, drivers on Interstate 95 will continue to have access to Exit 79 but will not be able to cross the bridge…
