On May 9, Eric Church delivered the commencement speech for the students of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Before the speech, he made a statement saying, “Being asked to be the Commencement speaker at North Carolina is one of the greatest honors I’ve ever had. Being a Tar Heel ‘born, bred, dead’ and knowing what the school has meant to me and my family, it’s surreal. To be able to be there and celebrate the future, the students at the University of North Carolina as they go onto their next journey, I’m honored to do it, and I can’t wait to see everybody there.”
During the speech, Church brought out an acoustic guitar and compared life to music. “The difference between a life that sounds like music and a life that sounds like noise is whether you stop and listen,” he said, according to USA TODAY. “Whether you’re honest enough to hear which string has drifted out of tune and humble enough to make the adjustment instead of just turning up the volume and hoping nobody notices.”…
