BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The First Alert Weather Day continues through 10 p.m. (May 26, 2026). The main threat is rounds of heavy rain that can cause localized flooding.
The Flood Watch continues for the following counties until 10 p.m. Tuesday (5/26/26): Walker, Cullman, Blount, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Hale, Perry, Bibb, Chilton, and Coosa. Areas under the watch can expect excessive rainfall that can result in flash flooding. Flooding could occur in rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying, flood-prone areas.
THE NEXT 24 HOURS: This morning, a few isolated showers have developed; otherwise, the sky remains cloudy. Temperatures are in the 70s, and we will top out in the upper 70s and low 80s this afternoon. Scattered storms will develop once again this afternoon with breezy conditions. Localized flooding is a concern.
REMAINDER OF THE WEEK: We will continue to see scattered storms through the weekend. The better coverage of rain will be on Friday and Saturday. Localized flooding remains a concern. When this week is all said and done, we could easily pick up an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain. This will be very beneficial because of the drought in place. Temperatures this week will hold in the upper 70s and low 80s. Long-range models suggest that when we begin June, the unsettled weather will calm down and some sun will return.
