Man charged in killing of Virginia teen in Myrtle Beach pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – A man was sentenced to prison in connection with the death of a Virginia teen in Myrtle Beach.

Gary Abraham, of Aiken, South Carolina, entered a guilty plea Tuesday to charges of involuntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The charges stem from the July 2024 shooting death of Jakolbi Taylor, a 16-year-old from Roanoke, Virginia.

Taylor was visiting Myrtle Beach with an AAU basketball team when he was shot on July 20 at the beach access on 16th Avenue North.

A judge sentenced Abraham to 20 years on the involuntary manslaughter charge and five years on the weapons charge; the sentences will run at the same time…
