Mother turns grief into advocacy as Virginia launches maternal mental health campaign

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Virginia mother who lost her childhood best friend to a maternal mental health crisis, joined state health officials to launch a statewide campaign aimed at breaking the stigma surrounding postpartum depression and other mental health conditions experienced during pregnancy.

When Britt Davis reflects on the days before her best friend Allison Goldstein died by suicide, she remembers constant check-ins during their pregnancies, recent visits and text messages exchanged the night before.
