Plea deal: Kansas felon killed man in dispute over a woman

SEDGWICK COUNTY— A man with a long criminal history who admitted his role in a deadly Wichita shooting in a dispute of a woman is going back to prison.

Last week, Judge Christopher Magana sentenced 27-year-old Elijah Fanning to 25-months in prison for the shooting death of 26-year-old Nichols Aldredge in June of 2025, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office.

In March, Fanning pleaded guilty to criminal discharge of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with the shooting death.
