(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — With the dry winter and low snowpack to start the year, some may be wondering if the recent storms in May have helped with our water supply. It turns out that it has.
According to the rainfall total since May 25th, Colorado Springs has seen 0.82″ of rainfall, while Pueblo has seen 0.51″. That’s just over a half-inch short of hitting the normal amount of rainfall we see for this time of year for both cities.
As we look at a time-lapse of drought conditions over the month, however, we see the drought continually decreasing, especially during the second week of May, when we saw a lot of storms come to the region. In fact, the Pike Peak region, some parts of Pueblo County, and parts of the plains now have the lowest level of drought category in the entire state of Colorado, as of the drought monitor for the week of May 18 through May 22…
