Absentee voting slower than expected, auditor says

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Absentee voting is slower than she anticipated Minnehaha County Auditor Leah Anderson told the county board on Tuesday.

“I thought with combining the elections that we would have a greater volume of turnout. That was the goal of HB 1130 of combining elections was to encourage higher turnout. And with so many items on the city/school ballot, I did expect a bit higher turnout by now for absentee,” Anderson said. “And it could pick up in this last week and we could see greater turnout.”
