Clarksville Mayor: City is at a crossroads, not a crisis

In a Clarksville City Council budget workshop held on Tuesday, May 26, Mayor Joe Pitts dismissed suggestions that the City of Clarksville is in a crisis.

“I reject that notion,” Mayor Pitts said. “We are at a crossroads and this year we will decide which road we will take: To meet the needs of our growing city, or we can retreat from our responsibilities and maintain the status quo.”

The proposed budget includes a property tax increase of 31-cents this year, raising the rate to $1.23 per $100 of assessed value, from the current tax rate of 92-cents…
