Little Bohemia mixed-use development to bring apartments, commercial space

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Construction crews are moving dirt at the northeast corner of 14th and William Street, where a mixed-use development will bring 154 apartment units and 9,000 square feet of commercial space to Little Bohemia.

The project is taking shape in a neighborhood known for its unique architecture, which preservationists say they want to maintain.

“Our belief is once it’s gone, it’s gone. And so we like to really encourage people to really be thoughtful about those changes long before they’re made,” said Kim Isherwood, president of Preserve Omaha.

Isherwood said the neighborhood’s appearance is what makes it stand out, citing bohemian architecture, artists and shops.

“If there are, you know, places where a building is going to go up, hopefully it can provide some sort of nod to the history of the area or incorporate some historical details,” Isherwood said…
