Retro Pizza Hut revival: Some locations returning to the 1990s aesthetic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDKY) — Foodies and families looking for a comfortable meal with a connection to days gone by are rediscovering an innovative return to tradition at Pizza Hut locations across the country.

Pizza Hut was founded in 1958 by brothers Dan and Frank Carney in Wichita. The two were students at Wichita State University, which now houses the original Pizza Hut building, which has been converted into a museum dedicated to the restaurant’s history.

Over 150 Pizza Hut locations, now owned by Yum! Brands, have recently revived the 1990s aesthetic, including painted lamps, red cups, and checkered tablecloths…
