OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Weekly rates of ER visits for tick bites are the highest for this time of year since 2017 in the region, according to the CDC’s Tick Bite Tracker.
Travis Bure, a tick researcher and associate professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at Creighton University said the increased ER visits are likely due to more people reporting bites rather than an actual uptick in ticks. He said that’s a big win because people are more aware.
