Chattanooga to close Wilson Road Bridge over Chattanooga Creek for safety repairs

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Drivers who use the Wilson Road Bridge over Chattanooga Creek will soon have to find another route as Chattanooga officials move to close the aging span after a state inspection found structural problems.

The City of Chattanooga Department of Public Works announced the temporary closure of the 64-year-old bridge due to structural deficiencies identified by a recent state inspection.

The bridge, which connects Georgia and Tennessee, will be fully closed to all traffic starting Thursday, June 4th, and will remain closed until repairs are completed that satisfy Tennessee Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration safety requirements…
