Arrest made in man’s killing during Canterbury Park prayer gathering

Shakopee Police announced Thursday afternoon they have made an arrest in connection to a fatal shooting during an Eid prayer service at Canterbury Park.

Authorities say the suspect was taken into custody just after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, and is being held in Scott County Jail pending charges. No additional information regarding the suspect or the arrest was made immediately available.

Khalid Abdi, 26, died hours after he was shot during the gathering at the Canterbury Park Expo Center on Wednesday morning. Abdi was a local union worker, and field representative for AFSCME Council 5.
