Property owners in the Area 151 Addition in Wichita are facing a bill of more than $11,000 each — and paying before the deadline is the only way to avoid the debt rolling into years of property tax charges.
The city passed the ordinance on May 12, effective May 15, levying the full $2,179,660 cost of new pavement entirely against the neighborhood’s property owners, with $0 paid by the city at large. The paved streets include Reece St, Boone St, Cody Lane, Josephine St, Melody Lane, and several others — the full list is in the city’s published ordinance.
