After 28 years of working at The Ruck in Troy, 22 as owner, and building it from a dive bar to a full restaurant with 32 draft lines and diverse pub menu, Dave Gardell is finally expanding out of the Collar City.
The Ruck² is being developed to open at the end of June at 148 Clinton St. in downtown Schenectady, taking over a space vacated in October when the vegan restaurant and game arcade Ubeetable closed after three years.
Gardell expects some will call it “The Ruck 2,” but he prefers the superscript rendering and the name “Ruck Squared” because, he said, “I’m growing exponentially.”…
