CLEVELAND — The Supreme Court of Ohio has overturned the ruling of a lower court, upholding the murder conviction of Leander Bissell, the man who struck and killed Cleveland firefighter Johnny Tetrick with his car.
Friday’s unanimous decision comes more than three months after justices heard oral arguments following an appeal by the state of Ohio of a previous decision by the Eighth District Court of Appeals that threw out Bissell’s murder conviction.
The case stems from November 2022, when Bissell drove through a closed lane on the eastbound Shoreway, hitting and killing Tetrick as the firefighter cleared debris from an earlier crash. Bissell did not stop at the scene…
