Drought conditions improving across Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Most of central Alabama has moved to the lowest tier of drought categories following days of rain across the state, but meteorologists say the downpours do less for the drought than expected.

Central Alabama is now in the lowest tier of drought categories, abnormally dry to moderate, down from extreme conditions in April. Other parts of the state are still seeing a moderate to severe drought.

Overall, the heavy rain has been good. Tuscaloosa and Anniston even have a surplus of rainfall this month…
