Queen Miller Home included in list of Virginia’s Most Endangered Historic Places

STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) – Preservation leaders and community members gathered in Staunton on Friday at the site of the Hayes Memorial Industrial School and Orphans Home, also known as the Queen Miller Home, as Preservation Virginia announced the annual list of Virginia’s Most Endangered Historic Places.

Logan Parham, services manager for Preservation Virginia, said the Queen Miller Home and its legacy are a “unique example of what it means for a family to dedicate their entire lives to the betterment of others.”

“It is for these reasons, and certainly others, that myself and our selection committee of Preservation Virginia have nominated the Queen Miller home as one of our Virginia’s most endangered historic places for 2026,” Parham said…
