ROCKFORD — New ownership has taken over LoCost Grocery inside the Rockton Avenue Shopping Center on the city’s west side.
New owners Meghna and Rick Patel cut the ribbon on the grocery store at 3118 N. Rockton Ave. in a short ceremony Friday with Mayor Tom McNamara and Alderwoman Dawn Granath. The grocery store filled a former Ace Hardware when it opened in November 2021. It’s in the same complex as the former Schnucks grocery, which closed in July 2018.
“We are really fortunate that local owners want to take ownership, see a need and want to fill that need,” McNamara said. “We have seen in our community what happens when large corporations — a la the one over there — decide to just pick up and leave. It leaves the entire community wanting and a need.”…
