With the Lake Oswego City Council only needing to fill a council vacancy for a few months before an elected councilor will take the seat in January, the six current members chose a person who wouldn’t need much time acclimating.
The council picked Jackie Edmund Manz — who represented the community at City Hall from 2014 to 2022 — to fill the vacant seat. Manz’s seat will be up for election this November. Former Councilor Jeff Gudman, former assistant U.S. attorney for Oregon and California Suzanne Miles and operations executive and Development Review Commissioner Chair Larry Linstrom were finalists for the position. The council interviewed all four candidates before making the decision Thursday, May 28.
