Prince William Says Kates Work Keeps Him Fighting to Get to Bed Each Night

Additional Coverage:

Prince William recently shared a humorous glimpse into his bedtime routine with Kate Middleton, revealing that getting to bed often feels like an obstacle course. On the Heart Radio Breakfast Show in the U.K., the Prince of Wales, 43, explained that most nights he has to “fight” his way past stacks of paperwork scattered around their bedroom-work that Kate, 44, is deeply immersed in.

Kate’s dedication centers on her work with the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood, an initiative launched in 2021 aimed at highlighting how early childhood experiences shape future development. William described her as a “proper pro” in this field, noting that her evenings are often consumed by reviewing research and documents related to early childhood education.

Despite the bedtime tussles, William expressed immense pride in Kate, especially following her recent solo trip to Reggio Emilia, Italy. The city is renowned for its innovative approach to early childhood education, known as the Reggio Emilia Approach, which emphasizes personalized learning environments tailored to children’s unique ways of thinking and communicating.

Kate’s two-day visit in mid-May involved meeting educators, families, and community leaders to observe this global educational philosophy in action. According to Kensington Palace, the trip was a significant milestone for the Princess, particularly after her challenging cancer treatment over the past two years.

William said, “She came back buzzing. I’m very, very proud of her.

She has been amazing, especially given everything she’s been through recently. She was really looking forward to this trip, and I’m glad it went so well.”

The Princess herself shared moments from the visit on Instagram, highlighting a morning assembly at Scuola Salvador Allende where children shared their interests and plans for exploration. Kate noted how learning, connection, and play naturally intertwine outdoors, with nature regarded as the “third teacher” alongside educators and caregivers in the Reggio Emilia Approach.

An aide described the visit as part of a larger global mission for Kate, who aims to foster international dialogue on early childhood education models. This trip marked her first major international engagement since her recovery, making it a particularly meaningful experience.

In sum, while Kate’s passion for early childhood education may turn their bedroom into a bit of a work zone at night, Prince William remains supportive and proud of the important work she’s undertaking on the global stage.
